Aretta Vivian Rose-James, 92, of Huntsburg, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Ohman Family Living at Blossom. She was born in Republic, Pennsylvania on March 19, 1930 to the late Ralph and Reva (Robinson) Hoover.
Aretta married her sweetheart of 56 years, Mitchell B. Rose, in June 1946 and together they raised 5 children. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. Her grandchildren were adored by her and she enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, gardening, sewing, quilting and traveling. In 2009 she married her childhood friend, Glen James, and spent 3 wonderful years with him. She loved her church family and was a member of Huntsburg Baptist Church for 35 years.
She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her daughter, Pamela (Robert) Springer; sons Jerry Rose, Jimmie Rose and Mark (Tammy) Rose; along with 6 grandchildren: Jerry (Kitty) Rose Jr., Michael Rose, granddaughter-in-law Amy Rose, Daryl Rose, Katie (Jamie) Woodworth, Fawn (Jeremy) Mast, Jessica (Mike) Kauffman; 11 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sisters: Avnell Keener, Sharon (Alvin) Roberts, Sheila (George) Calkins; sister-in-law Lois “Pee Wee” Hoover; brother-in-law Leon Dillon and many other dear family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Karen Rose, husbands Mitchell Rose and Glen James, daughter-in-law Loretta Rose, grandson Justin Rose, sister Elaine Dillon, brothers Ralph “Junior” Hoover and Carson Hoover.
Calling hours will be Thursday, January 26, 2023, 11:00 – 2:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, Ohio. Service following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Paul Radobenko officiating. Burial will take place at Huntsburg Cemetery.
