Antonio "Tony" Mercadante Obituary
Antonio “Tony” Frank Mercadante, 84 of Middlefield passed away Sunday January 1, 2023, at UH Geauga Hospital. He was born July 30, 1938, in Sinagra, Sicily, Italy to the late Felice and Josephine (Corica) Mercadante. He was a knitter mechanic supervisor at Dalton for:30 years, ran his own waterproofing company "A Mercadante and Son" with his son Joe also drove a bus for Lake Tran. Tony was a member of the rabbit club and donkey club was a backyard farmer raised chickens and other animals. He loved his garden too. He loved the Lord and loved to evangelize. Also was a member of St Lucy Catholic Church. Tony was a people person and had the gift to gab.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Anita (Muccini) whom he married October 1, 1966, his son, Anthony Mercadante of Willoughby, Siblings Frank (Santina) Mercadante of PA, Umberto (Rosa Maria) of Italy, sister Angelina (Nick) Oriti, sister-in-law Diane Mercadante both of Willoughby, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Mercadante of Wickliffe, and many nephews and nieces. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his son Joseph Mercadante, brother Galliano Mercadante, and sister Rosetta Mercadante.
Calling hours will be held 2:00-6:00 PM Sunday January 8, 2023, at the Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St. Middlefield, OH. 44062. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Monday January 9, 2023, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 16280 E High St, Middlefield, OH 44062, with Father Jacob Bearer officiating. Entombment will follow Mass at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, Ohio.
