Andy A. Byler Jr. 84,of Middlefield, Ohio went to be with Jesus surrounded by his loving wife and family on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Andy was born September 1, 1941 in Middlefield to the late Andy A. Byler Sr. and Lydia (Troyer) Byler. In his youth, Andy accepted Jesus Christ, a decision he would often say was the best he ever made.
Andy devoted 58 years to his work as a meat cutter. He began his career, training in the meat department at White Brothers, which eventually led him to open his own business, Byler's Freezer Meats in 1970. For 48 years, Andy faithfully and joyfully served his community until his retirement in 2018.
Andy loved life and loved people. He especially enjoyed raising beef cattle, gathering around campfires, and hosting picnics and get-togethers with family and friends, whom he dearly loved. He also had a deep appreciation for good food- particularly ice cream, a favorite tradition in the Byler family.
A faithful charter member of the Pilgrim Mennonite Church, Andy cherished his church family and lived out his faith through service and fellowship.
Andy married his sweetheart, Sue (nee Miller) on October 7, 1962, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Karen (David) Kauffman of Plain City, Ohio, Judy (Mark) Hershberger, Fred (Debbie) Byler and Kenrick all of Middlefield, Ohio. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, as well as his sister Kathryn (Byler) Byler of Middlefield and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Andy will be remembered for his strong faith, generous spirit, and the love and hugs he shared so freely with all who knew him.
