Albert E. Miller, 87, of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Mesopotamia, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Ohman Family Living at Briar in Middlefield, Ohio. He was born April 21, 1933 in Middlefield to the late Elmer A. and Mary (Byler) Miller. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran who served from 1952 - 1956. Albert married the love of his life, Betty N. Miller on July 2, 1955, they were married over 63 years before she died in January 2019. They are “together again”.
Albert was a carpenter and after retirement worked for Ace Hardware for several years. He was a member of First Brethren Church.in Sarasota FL and was an avid Tampa Bay Rays Fan. He enjoyed traveling, going to visit his sister in Alaska and his family in Ohio. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Rhonda (Monroe) Hostetler of Middlefield, OH, and Kevin Miller of Sarasota, FL., 8 grandchildren, Amanda Hostetler, Karen (Jose) Graves, Carolyn Hoffman, Krista (Mike) Komandt, Stefanie Hostetler, Adam Miller, Kevin (Julee) Hostetler, Jennifer (Shawn) Szczepanski, his 8 great grandchildren, Joey Komandt, Connor Komandt, Bristol Hoffman, Gentry Hoffman, Phoenix Graves, Kevin Graves, Emerson Szczepanski, and Reagan Komandt. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann (John) Whipp, Linda Kurtz, and a brother, Joe Miller.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his brother John Miller, and 5 sisters, Liz Clark, Lavine Kauffman, Emma Farmwald, Sadie Miller, and Elma Bontrager. A Gathering of Family and Friends was held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Sly Family Funeral Home.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 4:00 PM until the Celebration of Life at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the First Brethren Church, 150 N. Shade Ave. Sarasota, FL. 34237. He will be laid to rest with his wife 9:30 AM Monday April 19, 2021 in Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL. 34241.
