Garland Franklin Hill, age 87 of Middlefield, formerly of Newton Falls and Geauga County area, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at Briar Hill Health Care. He was born on July 13, 1932 in Henlawson, West Virginia to Robert Lee and Florence (Jeffrey) Hill. He assisted his father in the family business from his youth until he went to serve in the U.S. Marine Corp from July 17, 1952 to April 29, 1955 and then in the U.S.M.C. Reserves from April 29, 1955 to July 16, 1960. Garland worked at Chardon Rubber Co. 1955-1960 and Burton Rubber Co. from 1960-1984. He also drove taxi for the Amish. He spent a lot of his time trying to help people know Jesus Christ our Lord. He especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed dearly.
Garland is survived by his daughter Geri and her husband Dave Watson of Middlefield, two grandchildren, Lexi and Alyssa Watson, three great grandchildren, Nevaeh Watson, Kylah Hazen, and Emma Hazen, his brother Jennings Paul Hill of Daphne, AL and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
A Graveside Service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Middlefield Cemetery.
