Eugene M (Geno) Yoder passed away October 29, 2019 at the Inn at the Pines in Troy Township. Geno was born May 3, 1951 in Chardon to Milo and Alta Yoder. He spent his childhood in Geauga County. As the youngest of five children, he was the favorite and fun uncle for his nieces and nephews.
Geno married Martha Wear on March 31, 1989. They made their home in Farmington Township. Geno worked for many years at Hexpol Compounding.
Geno became a father at 48, welcoming his son John (Jack) into his life. He was a loving and active dad. The two of them became almost inseparable.
Geno was a participant in several churches over the years-volunteering in activities that involved children where he could be his lovable goofy self. Most recently he worshiped at Grace Fellowship in Warren.
Geno loved sports-playing softball in a league as recently as his mid-50’s-and was a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge. He spent his last Saturday on earth watching his beloved Buckeyes with his best friend Paul Overton.
Geno had a special way with animals-he once had a crow who would come down from a tree and perch on his shoulder. He leaves behind a houseful of pets including his dog Daisy.
Geno was preceded in death by his parents, but is survived by many who loved him and will miss his infectious humor including his wife Martha; his son John; his siblings Betty Gingerich, Barbara (Sam) Hostetler, Robert (Cheryl) Yoder, and Ruthie (Ken) Burnett; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 3 from 6-9PM with a service Monday, November 4 at 11AM at Sly Family Funeral Home 15670 W. High Street, Middlefield, OH 44062.
Memorial donations can be made to the Grace Fellowship Church (mark Missions in the memo line) PO Box 740, Vienna, OH 44473 or at gracelives.com.
